Front end clunk noise 09 IS250
Hello all. New to the boards so please be friendly. My wife just picked up a used 09 is250 and we just started noticing a front end clunk noise when going over rough roads or just about anything that makes the front end move around. So I took it to the lexus dealership here in Cerritos and they diagnosed the problem to be the front brakes since they are not oem and are missing shims and the fit kit for the brakes.
Tech told me that there are supposed to be 2 backing plates per brake pad but there is only 1 per pad and im missing the fit kit. I did not put the brake pads on. The car came with them. I verified his claim by driving down a cobblestoned or rough road. When I drove down the rough road with no brakes applied it sounds like something is loose or gonna fall apart. Now when I drove over the same road with little pressure applied to the brakes there is no noise.
My question is this. Can I use the fitment and shim kit that im going to buy from lexus with these aftermarket pads or should I say screw it and buy oem pads as well? Or any good aftermarket pad at that?
