Looking at maybe replacing the shocks all around my car with tax return money, saw they were only about 400$ on sewell for all 4, how much is a good price to get them installed? I don't think they've ever been replaced on my car at 197k, although I'm not sure any of them are "bad" would I feel a noticeably smoother ride? My car doesn't seem to handle bumps as smoothly as a Lexus should

I did all 4 corners on my daughters 02 GS300 about 2 months ago. Took me about 45-hour on each corner. The rear driver side was a pain to get a loose. I would say no more than $50 a corner to have it done.

So that he's aware that $400 is way too much for a job with a small to no degree in difficulty. I paid $180, my mechanic would've charged no more than $250 to an unknown.

$400 is not too much.. Degree of difficulty was not the question.

$250.. on the very low end, probably.. depends on the shop of driveway is being done at.

Its a business not charity..unless you work for free. or do it as a side job and have no Overhead.

I just had all four shocks replaced on my car a couple of weeks ago at my buddy's shop and he did it for $350. Fair price in my area and he does reliable work.

Doesn't degree of difficulty get factored into labor time? Which equates to whatever the shop charges him per hour???

Don't forget to factor the cost of a wheel alignment after the job is done also. Around here they go for about $75-100.

I may very well do it myself, although I haven't done it before, only thing that worries me is clamping the springs down haha don't wanna mess up and get hit or have the car get hit, but other than that it looks really easy from videos I've watched, does the car ride a lot better after?

I'm at 330k on oem struts. I'm sure the ride quality will improve. I'm getting mine replaced soon. I hit one too many pot holes this year.
