Default brake pad suggestions?

So it's come time for me to swap out my brake pads and I just don't feel like the OEM pads will do me any good. I take my car into the mountains a lot and now they're at about 50% life and I need to get my rotors machined (they're squealing a lot). I know brembos are an excellent brand, they make them for the first gen IS but to my surprise, they don't make any for my 2012 model, unless I'm searching the wrong places. I have also been recommended hawk hp and I've actually never heard of them before. So now my question is, what other brands can I go with that will perform just as well as either Brembo or Hawk? Just like how I started off as not knowing anything about suspension, I honestly don't know anything about the differences between the different brands of brake pads either. I know that to brake better, I need good quality tires but I don't have the money right now to get brand new tires and my brakes are going out anyways so I figured I'd just go with brakes. Any tips/advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

squealing doesnt come from the rotors. Try cleaning them and putting new anti squeal grease to see if it gets rid of the squeal, worked for me

I want to go aftermarket because the OEM brakes went out too quickly and I need something that doesn't heat up easily so that's why I was told to go with either Brembo or Hawk HP but I've searched Summit Racing (apparently estimated shipping date isn't until 2/4/14) and tirerack doesn't have either of them for my car. I'm fine with it being grabby, I'll just have to get used to it haha.

I've heard/read good things about the EBC redstuff and yellowstuff pads. I've got a set of brand new yellows just waiting for the StopTech Street pads to wear out. These StopTech street pads have lasted longer than the original OEM pads.

I am currently running the EBC yellowstuff which I like. I have 2 track days on them and there is still a lot of meat left on them compared to the OEM pads which were toast after 2 track days. They handle the heat of aggressive driving much better than the OEM pads. Super quite but they do require a bit of heat in them to make them most effective. Driving around town they have less bit than the OEM pads but once you get them hot they are far superior. Had the StopTech pads before these are those are a good compermise between the 2 in my opinion.

So right now, the recommendations would be EBC redstuff/yellowstuff and StopTech Street?

I've been driving yellow stuffs for a while, including a track day. Red stuff's aren't recommended for street use. If you are driving hard enough to overheat yellow stuffs on public roads you are being seriously, criminally negligent.

How about in the mountains? I take it easy on public roads but I drive completely different in the mountains, especially with friends haha.

^You'd probably like the StopTech Street pads; they'll handle ANYTHING on the street you can throw at them and last a WHILE! Dusty, yes...but a great value for what you get.

Second the above post. StopTechs won't let you down on the street and are half the price of the EBC pads. Unless you are seriously reckless on the street or want to take it to the track (which I highly recomend) and need the EBC Yellowstuff save your money with the StopTechs.

^The HAWK pads (if you can even find them) are MORE expensive than EBCs. Great pads nonetheless, but not worth the extra $$$ for just a street car.
