Forgive my ignorance, as this is my first experience with high performance pads. By reduced pad life, what should I expect? I had to get new pads around 40,000 - 45,000 miles in my last car. What's a good ball park for these?

Its really hard to guesstimate at this point... No one has run their car long enough to see pad life. And it really depends on how you drive.

Quoted from Lexus' website...

"High-friction brakes require periodic inspection and measurement as outlined in the Warranty and Services Guide. The pads and rotors are expected to experience greater wear than conventional brakes. Pad life may be less than 20,000 miles, and brake rotor life may be less than 50,000 miles depending on driving conditions."

Just joined the forum and have a question. I bought my 2014 IS250 Fsport about a month ago and there is a loud noise coming from the front brakes once you release the pedal, took it to the dealer after about 500 miles and they said all Reports have noisy brakes. But the noise is not when braking but after coming to a stop and then releasing the pedal its like the pads are still gripping. Well its been back at the dealer again this time they actually heard the noise, its been there since Thursday. So my question is have any of you experienced this type of noise?

I ordered the non F-Sport brake pads from Sewell. I hope to get them today and install sometime this week. I will definitely post an update if there is a noticeable difference in the brake dust.

Which part number did you order? I picked up my car from JM Lexus yesterday and the part number for the non Fsport pads he showed me was 04465-30340 which were a different size pad from the 04465-53040 for the Fpsort so he said they could not be used..they resurfaced the rotors and told me the noise was just a part of the high friction pads used. Said they would submitt a letter to Lexus (forgot what he called it) so they would be aware of my complaint.
On another note I saw your car a couple weeks back at a NISFLO BBQ meet at Tree Tops park..loved the stance and the wheels..showed my wife pictures of it but she still did not want the white so she got the silver with red interior.

These are the correct part# RTIS250 posted on previous page.
I swapped mine and no problem. Not sure yours are right ones.

My 250 AWD non F Sport developed a loud squeal when backing out of my garage each morning with light braking but brakes do not make any noise once I put the car in drive. Also the sound goes away in reverse once pads are warm. Anyone else experiencing this. Hoping new shims or additional lubrication will solve the issue...car goes in on 1/9

FYI on swapping front brakes pads on your 2014 IS250 FSport to Non- FSport front pads to reduce noise and brake dust.
I was on Sewell's website and they have an exploded diagram of the front brakes and they call out different part numbers for the calipers/brackets on the IS250, so the Non-FSport uses a smaller pad and cannot be used on a FSport.

Mounting Bracket FSport: 47721-53060
Mounting Bracket Non-FSport: 47721-30521

Caliper FSport: 47730-53060
Caliper Non-FSport: 47730-30521

They also have an exploded diagram of the 2014 IS350 front brakes and the Calipers are the same between FSport and Non-FSport so the regular pads can be swapped out instead of using the High Friction Pads.

I was able to snap a picture of an IS250's Front brakes for comparison to my FSport's, as you can see in the picture of the Non-FSport there is about a 1/4 gap were the caliper meets the mounting bracket but on the FSport the caliper sits flush with the bracket.

Non-FSport

FSport

Hope this helps anyone with an IS250 FSport looking to swap out the pads

Hey guys, I know this thread is old, but my car is making this noise from the driver's front wheel when applying the brakes and EVEN CLUELESS when cruising without stepping on the brakes. This just happened to me tonight, car is around 10,000 miles, I'm going to take it into the dealer to see what the hell is with Lexus. I suspect it might be the rotors and built in brake dusts, I just don't know, but the noise is unusual enough to be concern about. Had anyone experience this?

Well I just went to the dealership and they found out that it was because my brake pads are near the end of it's life where metal was showing and that's where the sound come from. Wow these F Sport brake pads sure is unheard of in Toyota/Lexus history. Maybe I'm wrong, but most people questions me Lexus brake pads gone in just 10 months? I guess when you play the sport's car game you need the brakes like the Germans have in their cars which doesn't last long either haha. Question is does these brake pads perform as well as the ones on Beemer/ Mercedes?

Did you pay for the repairs?

I've got 8400 miles on my 2014 IS350. I've had the car for 14 months. I am not an aggressive driver. The front brakes are squealing the first few times I stop after the car's been sitting for over 20 minutes. The sound goes away after 3 or 4 stops.

I took my car in to Lexus service 2 days ago and the female said the patterns on the rotors reveal that maybe I "brake too hard" and that "the brake pads are beginning to wear away". She made no mention of this brake dust buildup or anything. I was told to bring it back another day when the master technician is available to determine whether maybe Lexus will replace them for free. Otherwise, the cost would be $400.

Update: Took it to a family mechanic today for a second opinion. He says brake pads are like new and have plenty of life left in them. The rotors have accumulated rust because I don't drive the car much and that's the cause of my squealing. He recommends I drive more to scrape away the rust.
