2nd gen Lexus gs400 brake master cylinder swap
Hi all. I have been lurking in this forum for quite some time and finally decided to join. Anyhow, i just got done with a master cylinder swap but there is only one problem. The two side brake lines would not fit. Apparently the bolt doesn't go deep enough. I always thought it was 100% compatible with the exception of one sensor. Did anybody experience this same issue? The bolt that attaches the two brake lines to the side of the master cylinder doesn't fit all the way as would with the 98-00 master cylinder; the swapped master cylinder is from an 03 GS430. Should i go to t he Lexus dealership for this part or was there something i missed?

Lexus dealership is asking for $1000 labor. I did it myself in less than 2 days. If the two bolts does not go all the way, should i force it? Weird, i put both master cylinders side by side. They look identical. Just that the 01+ doesn't seem like it was drilled deep enough unlike the 98-00. Is it advisable to force it in when there's half an inch? Don't wanna damage or strip anything

The part number is 47210T, BOLT (FOR BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER). I did a quick measurement and clearly the 98-00 is deeper. I'm assuming nobody encountered this problem before because perhaps they used the bolt supplied with the 01+ BMC rather than reusing the old 98-00 bolts.

this is frustrating. i called the dealership for this specific bolt and there's only 1 in the entire country. The two brake lines can't even be seated correctly with original bolts because you can't even tighten the bolts due to the fact that the bolts are an entire finger longer than what you can actually fit. I can't believe nobody else experienced this. I tried to force it in but ended up stripping the insides of the brake line and still lines not seated correctly.

the way to install the BMC is to loosely install it,
this gives you play, Play you need to properly align the DELICATE threaded fittings.
it should go in with ease by hand. If not you need to remove the master and bench dry fit the fitting.
Saying OH screw it in just going to continue to tighten and it will go in is the wrong way, which leaves you cross threaded and Replacing Lines. If your fitting is Shot, THE LINE MUST BE REPLACED.

Do you see the difference? The bolts go all the way in to old BMC. The first two pictures is the new BMC. Notice how both 2 bolts only go in so far. You can't fit the brake lines perfectly because apparently the design is different.

No one has experienced this cause ITS NOT AN ISSUE... Like i said, as long as the fitting sits and locks your good, regardless of over length of fitting. You did it wrong and Probably ended up cross threading..

The unit didn't come with that part no wonder. The parts ill need would be 47210T X2, 47210J X4,
47201D, 47201E. Is this same for all 01-05 models? Or is it specific only to the 2003 GS430 model?
