i went through all the threads but didn't see an answer on this.

I will be halving the caliper to clean/paint/rebuild it... once i'm done and ready to rejoin the two halves of the caliper together, is there any required sealant/silicone on the mating surface??? or do i just bolt them together and job done???

I doubt you need sealer but not 100% sure. Do you remember cleaning any off when you removed them the first time ?

for anyone doing this. there is a rubber gasket that goes in between the two halves of the calipers which feed brake fluid to both halves...
