Default Rear brake pads wont fit! Need help! (pic)

So Im installing new rear brake pads and everything going smoothly until it was time to put the new pads in. I compressed the piston and put one pad in but the one that goes on the outside wont fit. the gap is about half the size of the new pad. As you can see in the picture.

What is it that I need to do?

Ok I noticed when I tighten this 19mm bolt at the top, back of the caliper is gives me more and more room to fit the new pad.

the more I tighten it the more room it gives me. but I only tighten the top since theres no bolt on the bottom.

Is this meant to be tightened? or should I not tighten it?

That bolt you are turning is the sliding pin that allows the outer portion of the caliper to "float" in and out as your depress and release the brake pedal. With the hydro line attached, you should be able to push/pull that outer portion of the caliper. If not, it is probably seized up causing the installation issue.

How do I know...cuz it happened to me!

Replaced the entire caliper. Now, if yours is not completely seized you could just clean off the rust and relube the pin. Oh, also a new seal would be greatly recommended as well.
