Since I just did a timing belt, water pump, VC gasket, and spark plugs on my 430. I mind as well do the rest like Ball Joint. Thank you for the tip you guys!

From research, most members start changing it out at around 90,000-100,000 and that's what I'm doing. I don't want it to snap on me and damage more parts of the car..I'd rather spend under $200 right now than pay hundreds of dollars later..

Moog vs. OEM is the same as No Fail vs. Will Fail

my next set will be Moog at 180k still have a long time before seeing that though.

So PepBoys says I have some play in my Ball Joints (98 GS300 148k). Want to replace ball joint and control arm, then do alignment. I'm not mechanical so please advise best steps and approximate cost.

3rd Gen had lower ball joints mounted the right way up. This way the grease doesn't run out and the ball joints will probably outlast the car.

Interesting to know that Moog brand lower ball joints and outer tie rod ends are manufactured by 555 "triple 5", made in Japan.

I just got Raybestos brand "Professional Grade" of those same parts, and that's exactly what they are: 555 and made in Japan.

So - that answers the question of which is better? Moog vs Raybestos - exactly the same, for these parts, at least.

The Raybestos upper control arm/ball joint has a manufacturers mark "SH" and is made in Taiwan. Appears to be well formed and good quality.

I've used Moog over OEM and have had great results in all my cars. Having grease zerks is a plus since you can grease them yourself and know they'll always be lubricated.
