Default BC vs. Megan vs. Tanabe Coilovers

Hi fellow members I have a 06 IS350. I am reigniting the age old debate on what coils to get..I have read countless threads pertaining to all the coils in the title so please don't flame saying "search". I just haven't been sold on any and none of the threads have exactly what I'm looking for. Budget for now is roughly around $1,000.

BC vs. Megan LP/EZ vs. Tanabe Sustec

Here's what I'm looking for ordered by importance:

1) Reliability / Quality
2) Price
3) Can go low
4) Option to go air + coil in the future (if i ever hit the lottery and can afford air )

From what I heard the Tanabe Sustec gives me the option of airing in the future. Wondering if the BC's and Megan's are "air compatible"?

Ride quality is important but I am well aware that "ride quality" and "low" don't go together in the same sentence. I am used to a pretty stiff and back jarring ride from my 08 civic slammed on buddy clubs. Just looking for feedback on ride quality for the above coils (stiff / soft / bouncy / etc)

Thanks for the time. Sell me on these!

Only ever had BC Racing. Great bang for your buck with 30 way adjustability

Would you guys know anything about BC + air? If I were to ever save enough to go coils + bags, would it be compatible?

I wouldn't know what would make a coilover air-compatible; but since BC Racing doesn't advertise it on their site, I'd doubt it. I wouldn't toss the thought of getting BCRs for that reason though; I mean, I have them myself and love them! If you love taking the twists faster than normal look at less a 12/8k or 14/10k spring rate.

Thanks man! I'm leaning towards BC right now. If I was thinking about going low, would a 14/10 work better or 12/8?

^A nice, comfortable DD spring rate would what I've got (12/8k). But for those wanting something a bit more aggressive, I'd go with the 14/10k...I wish I had.

yeah ive seen plenty of guys do it when i was still in the VIP scene. ive seen folks use BC's and Megans then just get the UAS bags and etc. people really only do those type setups to keep a stiff ride like coilovers but still have the functionality of air. not to mention you can still have a low ride height with that setup.

but if you just want a straight static coilover setup i would go BC like everyone else said. I have them on both my cars. cant really go wrong with BC plus you can get stiffer spring rates if need be

i'll be in the market for a set of coilovers soon, i would add quietness to OP's list. i heard BC has that clunky noise issue.

Are you riding full stiff or somewhere in between?
