I will be purchasing new springs to lower my 06 IS250. I know H&R's are an excellent choice for the kind of drop I am looking for, but the Hotchkis seem to deliver the same drop ratio at about half the price. I was wondering what the overall opinion is on either of these brands. Better yet, if someone has experience with both, I am all ears.

I'd personally go with H&R. Their reliability, quality, and history are second to none. I don't know who makes the springs for Hotchkins.

Look into the difference between progressive and linear spring rates. My Eibach Prokit springs that I had on my Accord were really good, then were a progressive type spring if I remember right. That could be why one is more expensive than the other, I don't know for sure.

Is your car AWD or RWD?

i did a little research. I think its the other way around, bob. From my understanding, mostly only stock springs are linear, and H&R, Eibach, ect are progressive.

Where are you seeing that Hotchkis is "half the price" of H&R?

I'm seeing $326 for the Hotchkis vs $220 for the H&Rs..

..and that's a steal!! Regular pricing is indeed what I listed above.

HOWEVER.. that drop is nowhere near H&R!

Hotchkis - Front Drop = 1-5/8" (41mm) Rear Drop = 7/8" (22mm)

H&R - (Front Lowering [inches]: 1.4" / Rear Lowering [inches]: 1.3")


FORGET THAT! Go H&R.

So they are abit more in the front and alot less in the rear....but man that is a really really cheap price for some springs. I was 75% there but decided to wait to just get coilovers.

Good choice. The cost of the strut/shock replacement would have been close to the cost of some new coilovers.

We do our own work on all of our cars and our customer cars.
4 out of our 5 customer Supras are on coilovers, two Teins, one HKS, and one KW. The other Supra is on factory struts/shocks with Intrax springs IIRC. They make anywhere from 650WHP up to 1176WHP so far. Will probably take the 1176 one back to another dyno and make a couple of small tune changes to see if it can break the 1200WHP mark. Plan to take it to the track this spring/summer and see what ET we can get out of it.
