Hi,

I have just replaced my master cylinder on my '98 GS, but the lights (VSC OFF, ABS and VSC) won't go off.

The replacement unit seems to work perfectly.

I have tried disconnecting battery for 10 minutes, but that didn't help.

Any ideas?

I talk to George at Rainbow electric at 1(800)835-3730. He said it was a year ago and he couldn't remember what was involved with the repair. He said he did it as a favor to Martin because he was his customer previous. Couldn't remember what he charged him but quoted me 300-400 dollars. He said you send it to me maybe I can repair maybe I can't.I'm Probably just gonna find someone out here who can do it local in cali. Thx for the info anyways Martin.

Take it locally no point in using some one far for repair. Any small motor repair shop can do this for you. In fact Rainbow may not be the best option they do big motors like george said he did me a favor. Let me know how it goes.

I have no clue what you might have going on but what I noticed is that when I had the problem the motor would turn a little and stop turn and stop even without hitting the brake continously do that but when I would hit the motor it would run for a longer time then stop for good at which point my lights and sound would go away. I would encourage you to start a thread and ask the question with as much detail as you can there is a lot of useful info around here as well. Good luck

Sorry didnt see your post Im sorry I dont do this for money matter of fact if I didnt think it to be a challenge at first I wouldnt have taken mine apart lol now that I did it I wont do it again. Take it to a local shop tell them exactly what you want done it shouldnt cost that much especially if you tell them what to do. Good luck

Default Quick question regarding your repair

If I'm standing in front of my car and open the hood, the master cylinder sits in the back right... The cumalator that you speak of is that thing shaped like an oil filter or cup? Does the whole master cylinder have to be removed to fix those brushes? Thanks in advance and you can text me as well at 407.948.4599. I'm in a real jam and I would love to just have this thing rebuilt before paying 2,000 to Lexus for a new one! I own a 1998 gs400 by the way. Thanks again!

Chris
