Question Issues/concerns with only running REAR wheel spacers?

Hey guys -

I have 18x8's with a 42mm offset on all 4. As you can imagine, there's an unsightly gap in the rear and I'd like to run H&R spacers with lengthened studs. I'm thinking 20mm - 30mm. Not trying to be flush obviously, just trying to minimize.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have experience running rear spacers only? Will it make my vehicle track differently down the road?

I did search, and most threads I found were folks running spacers in the front and rear.

Thank you for your input...

Surely someone has done this. No? Any thoughts on spacer size then? 25mm?

makes no difference, if any it should make your car more stable since you have a wider stance. I've ran 25mm in the rears but its no where near flush. I recommend at least 30 in the rears and 25 for the fronts.

I run h&r spacers on the gs, rear only in the summer. Front and rear in the winter.

NoNo issues either way.

Are you eye balling 20 to 30 mm or did you measure for clearance

well that depends on your wheel width and offset. there was a thread with pics where a member had 33mm fronts and 38 mm rears with stock 17x8 50? offset wheels. and it was close to flush with no rub.

so just do some calculations depending on your wheel offset and go from there.

I personally ran 25s in the back with stock wheel. and its no where being close to flush so that's why i recommend at least 30 mm for the rear. and I was gonna throw the 25s to the front.

btw why are you running spacers in the front only during summer and all 4 for winter?

Winter time I'm on stock 16s with snows. 30mm spacers help them not look too terrible.

Summers are squared 19s, fronts are perfect the rears need a little help (12mm or so) to be where i want them.

Just wanted to follow-up on this thread and note that I checked the torque of the spacer nuts and they all held steady at around 78 ft-lbs after 100 miles, both sides. No issues. One thing I did notice is that my car seems to get "caught" more in the those dang truck ruts found in the center lane of most 3-lane highways (or the right lane on 2-lane highways). As some of you know, this makes your car seem like it's wandering a bit, so you kind of need to pay a bit more attention than if you were driving a car with a smaller track width down the road. Not a big deal, but my wife did notice when she drove the car for the first time.

thats cuz you have a wider stance that just happens to get caught into those ruts. its nothing compared to driving with 30 series 285 tires. =P

For the guys claiming to notice a functional difference out on the road (on a street car at that), you have quite an imagination!
