Default How quick do you go through brakes?

I got a certified IS250 a few months ago and have driven 7k. The dealer now says the breaks need to be changed. The rear breaks immediately and the front in about 5k.

Being certified of course brakes dont fall under the warranty, but im thinking if they never really checkd the breaks and gave me bad breaks? Talked to someone in service they said they make sure breaks are at level 5. but i think its really hard to get it that low in 7k miles to the point of needing replacements?

Whats everyones thoughts or experiencees with how quick breaks need to be replaced?

A certified car should have had brakes replaced if it had less than 60% of their life left. I doubt, unless you are doing some seriously hard driving, you'd be able to wear those down in 7k miles. Especially the rears since 70% of your braking is the fronts anyway, and being the car is not heavy like an LS. If the fronts were borderline 60% and you've put 7k on, them needing to be done in 5k is much more plausible. I'd talk to the dealer and explain this, and try to at least work out a deal on those rears. i drive my 2nd gen GS pretty hard, and I still get about 12-14k on my front brakes using OEM pads. My rears go for about 20-22K before I need a change, and mine is a 430, so it's much heavier too.

Talk to the dealer you brought the car from and see if they will work with you. At 7k miles after buying the car, your pads shouldn't be on their way out if you got the car CPO.

I bought my car CPO, done more than 40k miles now since....still on the original brakes (Front and rear). There was something in the service history about my front brakes from the previous owner - i'm guessing they were changed so they have about 60k on them... nothing about the rears tho....so i'm assuming they have gone all 80k without ever being changed.

It shouldn't need changing already not even driving hard on your car..TRUST ME I know...I bought my car at 31k and now I am at 49k and my brakes have a lot more meat on it...

Another option if complaining bout CPO and brakes not being inspected would be based on your mileage there is a TSB for the front brakes for excessive brake dust.
Best of luck either way

I gave the dealer and the sales person who sold me the car is looking and willgive me a call. Not sure if they will but i think 7k is just ridiculous to have to change if its CPO.

I bought my IS350 brand new in summer of 07. 32k miles later My brake pads are not even 60% worn. It all depends on how much you brake, how hard you brake, etc. I tend to drive on the freeway most of the time with no traffic.

104,000 miles, still on original pads front and rear.

gotta love 75% highway driving! (For those like me who don't tailgate anyway)

when I first got my car I would go through front pads every 10k miles. Now that I drive like a civilized human being I get over 20k from them... haha

You brake too aggressively
I've gone through ~1mm in the last 5k miles

Bought my 07 w/35k miles. I need brakes now so I'm searching for replacements as I'm typing. Curently at 63k miles. 70% highway but tailgate to draft and get better gas mileage. And aggressive city driving.
