Wow... has anyone here ever had to replace their rear brake rotors?
The reason I ask is that after owning my car for about 74 months, putting 68.2K miles on the clock, I just measured my rear rotors for the first time, and they are apparently at about 17.98 mm. If I'm not mistaken, that is just .02 mm less than the original thickness.
At this rate, I would literally have to drive my car millions of miles for them to reach the minimum 16.5 mm thickness. Is this normal? Do I have my numbers all mixed up?
I know the rear brakes aren't used as much as the front brakes, but that's VERY significant. My front rotors only have about .6 mm left (although that's after I think the dealership resurfaced them when doing the brake dust TSIB a few years ago). Also, the rear pads only have about ~35% of their life left after those 68.2K miles.

I was at 65k and my fronts were getting a fairly bad shake when I would brake from 70 mph. I decided to get new rotors & pads all around. I think parts cost me close to $900 but it was woth it. A buddy changed them our for me so labor was free.

Also, even if they did, that was still like five years and 50-55K miles ago, so they should still have much more wear than they do.
Not to be an @ss, but you almost certainly didn't need the rears replaced. Also, for future reference, you should register with your clublexus account at sewellpartsonline.com. You could have gotten the necessary parts for about half that price.

Im in the process of replacing mine as we speak... I was a little confused when trying to find rotors, the front left and front right have different part numbers, and cost about 10 dollars different. They ended up costing me 89.99 and 81.99. The dealer told me that my pads and rotors were glazed, luckily I had the pads replaced under warranty, I have just purchased them from a local parts house about 6 months ago. just waiting for the rotors. hoping this fixes my noise.

Almost 90k and in the same boat as you and that's with my wifes late braking. Bias is to the front for the most part. It seems the only time the rear brakes work is when traction control or the other anti tail out safety measure that makes a light come on the dash. I replaced the rear pads just because at about 80k miles. The front is on the 3rd set of pads and 2nd set of rotors. The latest front rotors have the normal groove forming in them. The rear rotors are hardly eaten away.

I have never had good luck with after market brake pads or rotors for any of the Toyota or Honda vehicles we have owned. I am sure the high end performance parts are good but I will never install pads or rotors from a local parts store or any of the chain auto repair centers even if they offer lifetime warranties and gave them to me for free.
We always heard a slight grind, squeak, squeal etc. and could never get it right no matter what we did. We have purchased OEM pads ever since with out any issues. I have found the price to be similar and even cheaper to go OEM instead of the best pads the local parts store can sell.
