Default IS350 Brake Noise?? Horror Stories! Anyone have this problem?

Ok... So I have a 2008 IS350. I just had brake pads put on around 10k miles ago....I have read and heard horror stories about the IS having severe brake problems.. and people having to purchase new calibers, pads, and rotors... Someone tell me an easy fix! Here is what there are doing... I get a medal on medal (typical "you need new brakes sound") sound, it does it only at a certain braking force, the brake pedal has to be pushed to the floor at a certain point... This being said I can ride around my neighborhood and make it do it every time I stop! The problem is this noise is right at my normal braking position. The Pads are NO where near the point of needing to be changed. Its rather embarrassing when you pull up to have your car valet parked at a local hot spot trying to take a new girl out! Any ideas? Or anyone else having this problem?

Metal on metal, unless if you are rubbing 2 medals against each other.

Take it to the dealership and see what they say. Make sure to check if there is any contamination on your brake fluid. You dont want any water or air in it.

I have squeaking noise from my brake but I have plenty left. I only hear it when it's cold outside. I think there's TSB for it.

Toyota Service Bulletin. Lexus will fix stuff for free if they are aware of this issue granted if your car is still under warranty. See pdf.

Gotcha! Thanks for the info, I had just been doing some research on people having this problem, and most were finding $$$$$$$$ to be the only answer! I think Ill try the TSB and dealer option first. I might have my rotors turned and see what happens!

Default Re: Brake Squeel

I have a similar, but intermittent problem with the brakes on my 2010 350c. I was going to take it over to the stealership this week. Thanks for posting the TSB – however it is specific for 2007 and older 250 models. So, may not apply to newer or higher hp models, not sure.

^LOL!

OP, is the noise coming from the fronts or rears? The caliper replacement "stories" are only from the rears. As I personally had to swap out the old rusted-up units for new OEM ones, I know this firsthand what happens when they "let go".

There is an LSB is for this concern for IS350/IS3550C/GS350/460/450h. I've had some customers who've replaced their pads maybe a month or two before the bulletin came out, and later on, they would hear a squeal sound before they were due for brakes, and found that updated parts were available. Again, it would only apply if you're under 4 years/50,000 miles:

Sadly no. I've contacted a CPO rep that processes extended warranty claims, on behalf of a customer, and that does not apply due to it being a "wear and tear" item.

Yeah this is the only TSB I could find for brake squeak. I didn't do it since I'm out of warranty but I was told people have done it the noise came back after a few months.

Look I have a degree in accounting and finance... Not an English major! haha

And the noise is coming from the front, the Stealership (LMAO) wants 590.00 to replace the front calipers and pads! I think Im going to have them turned first at a local shop and see what the outcome is! My dealership said the TSB only applied to 4yr/40k cars, and im over mileage....
