Default Need Help figuring out what suspension set up to go with (IS350)

At first I was thinking about going F-sport Shocks/springs. but.. after doing some research I feel I would be happier going with a linear type set up.

Was thinking of buying a set of OEM X/Sport Shocks with springs but the springs only lower it .4 in the front which I can deal with, but.. zero drop in the back.

Swift springs seem decent enough, quasi linear.
Drop (Front): -1.0 inches
Drop (Rear): -0.8 inches

Was thinking perhaps, OEM X/Sport Shocks w/ Swift springs.
I don't really want a huge drop, 1" at most.

If anyone can suggest other alternatives that would be great.

I want to avoid coil-overs, it's just overkill for what I am trying to accomplish.
I just want a slightly better stance, and better handling.
getting sway bars, steering dampener, and perhaps steering ECU as well in the future.

To maintain a very similar OE ride quality and drop you down ~ an inch all around, I would recommend Tein H-techs (aka Luxury series springs). Had them on my '95 Civic and loved them for my DD!

Do a search on the H&R Springs with stock struts. I couldn't be happier.

I am also looking to replace shocks to a slightly firmer better handling set. But nothing extreme. Not into slamming, actually going for better handling even if I need to sacrifice some ride comfort.

I know you said that you didn't want to go the coil route but If you are looking to replace shocks and springs you might as well. You have more adjustability (both firmness and height) and you get a set of BC racing coils from some of the supporting vendors to less thank 1K to your door. Springs + shocks will run you at least half that (even more if you go F-sport).

I am also thinking what the OP wanted, a little drop on all fours but not over 1 inch. Also wanted linear springs. Trying to keep the cost down and be able to maintain the ride quality and up the performance a bit.
Will the h&r be more beneficial as compared to coil overs. Also I wanted a drop in and don't want to deal with a lot of adjustments which I read the coil overs you have to do.

Yeah, I don't really want to fuss with coil-overs, I am sure they are great. I just want more of a set and forget set up.

The Swift Springs seem to be among my top choices of springs so far.

Shocks, not too sure.
would the Xsport/sport shocks be able to handle a 1" drop without blowing out prematurely?
do i need to worry about uneven wear on tires... etc... trying to avoid all that noise.. (camber kits)

I know you say that you dont want coils, but if your spending the money for springs AND shocks, you might as well get coils.

If you want to go the Fsport route, springs are ~$250 and shocks are ~$800 from Sewell (someone correct me if Im wrong).

Whereas you can get a set of Megan EZ coils for ~$650 shipped from our vendors

I just installed the F-Sport springs (Revised) with stock shocks last week on an IS350. I love the ride. I didn't want it slammed but just a little sportier. I think I got what I was looking for.

shock + spring combo cost same as coils
coils are much easier to install
you can still "set and forget"
coils doesn't mean slam

don't coil-overs require you to install camber kits as well...

Im on coils and not slammed (yet ) and I dont "need" a camber kit. Yes I do have negative camber

-2.5 rear and -1.5 front, but I can easily raise my ride height

ok well, back to the drawing board.

thanks for the info. first time really modifying anything, so excuse my ignorance. Just trying to do it right the first time around.

and yes, I want to take the car to the track some day, but also my daily driver.
looking for a medium ground, if there even is one.

perhaps I'll get some nice light rims and just springs to hold me off, until I can afford a nice set of coil-overs and installation. I cannot stand the huge gap, it makes my nose bleed every time I get near my car.
