You may want to look into Centric Posi Quiet brake pads, they are low dust, quiet pads and wont break the bank.

Akebono gets my vote. Cheap, Low dust, Low noise.

Its what I use and sell at the shop very frequently with great success!

Sorry to bring this one back... third time changing these pads- first were terrible, second were great, third is a mystery... didn't trust the first salesperson, so bought a second set, and sure enough now have 2 different models... I have a 2006 is350. Anyone have any idea or recognize either of these or a preference? Thanks in advance

Do the OEM low dust ones still perform as well as the regular ones. Because I have the regular ones that create massive amounts of dust but they definitely bite real nice

No, they're definitely different. Hard to believe, but the OEM "high-friction" ones that were on m IS350 when I got it had more of an initial bite to them than the StopTech Streets I have now.

^That is usually normal though; do you park indoors overnight? If parked outside overnight, it is normal to see very minor surface rust develop overnight from mositure, thus help causing odd noises or feedback until the rust is worn off under normal driving.

So I'm assuming high friction=high dust?
Funny thing is I have both here and one's box is way more dusty... Probably a good indicator.

I just wish the Lexus parts guys could figure this out... Went in to the dealer this morning and after explaining my situation and looking up my vin the same dealer that sold the 450's last week recommended the 500's today. :/

So I guess stick with the 450's... Thanks everyone.

Another vote for Akebono Ceramic pads here. They truly are dustless. My rims only get dirty if it rains

So I'm assuming high friction=high dust?
Well, the certainly won't advertise them as the "high dust" pads. I've never bought either. I've had the car a year and can't say what they came with, but I'll be switching to Akebono. So I'm not the best one to ask. Having a dealer not know part numbers or not knowing stock is more common than you might like, though. So I guess you shouldn't be too surprised the same guy recommended two different parts a week apart.

If you put the VIN in and look it up, it will list what the vehicle came with originally, so if it came with the high friction pads, that's what they will recommend, unless the parts guy knows about the service bulletin offering other choices, which may or may not occur, it's a service bulletin after all, not a part bulletin.

If one parts guy knows about it and another doesn't, you may get 2 different options. Or if they aren't using the VIN and look it up for a 2009+ the catalog will list both choices as the USA models used the low dust and the Canadian models used the high friction. If the parts guy isn't careful he may pick the wrong one.

The high friction pads are Textar T4146 material pads, this is stamped onto the backing plate. Low dust ones are NBK D6893H material pads.

Just because someone works at a Lexus dealer doesn't mean they know everything off the top of their head for older cars, and the catalog certainly doesn't just say use this or this depending on what the customer wants, etc. It takes experience and a good memory to know these sorts of things, and some parts people just don't want to put in that kind of effort, or are unable to.

My friend has the Porterfield R4-S front pads on his car - seems to be in between the Lexus OEM low & high dust pads as far as cleaning goes...
