Failures are usually for incorrect installation and in some cases quality of the product.
You need to understand what are you doing, you cannot install a 2” spacer without extended lug nuts or spacers that have studs in them, because you will not have enough threads to securely install the lug nuts to the wheels.
I do not see why this will be a problem if you have to use the spare tire…the spacer is moving the tire and wheel outwards and the spares are never as wide as the stock wheels/ tires…you can also remove the spacer if needed the same way you removed the wheel.

If the spacer isn't wide enough to completely cover the stock studs, they will stick out above the spacer. If your wheels have cavities behind them to clear those studs it's not a problem. Spare wheels do not.
If you have bolt-on spacers, chances are you cannot fit the spare tire on without removing the spacer.
I don't really see it being a huge problem though, just remove the spacer when you put the spare on (unless it's seized on there or something).

An2ny, like Jeff Lange said. The spare tires don't have that cavity part so the stock studs will interfere with the spare rim. Simply removing the spacers shouldn't be a problem, in theory..... But if for whatever reason the lug nut size holding the spacer isn't the size of the others and you don't have that socket size on hand then you'll be out of luck. In my friends scenario, after the spacers being on there for 2 years without removal, it proved impossible to take off on the side of the road with the stock spare tire iron thing in the trunk.

Yeah, I didn’t think about the cavities …I cannot remember the last time I installed a spare tire.
I got a car with some spacers installed by the previous owner, (maybe for a few years) and those things were almost impossible to take off…used impact gun, breaker bar/ extensions and a lot of PB Blaster.
So if you install them yourself, make sure that you don’t over torque them, use anti-seize or any other product, check them once in a while and also that you have the key/socket for the spacer with you.
