Default Opinion on Centric Rotors and Akebono pads

I'm pretty sure I need new rotors since i can feel a pretty big lip on the front rotors and have gone
through three sets of pads, dusty oem , non dusty, and EBC red. I have 105K on the is350
I'm thinking of getting the Premium Centric rotors and Akebono pads..

questions:
- is there a premium and regular centric version?
- 44138 and 44137 are these just right and left model numbers for the centric rotors(2006 is350)
- has anyone tried the akebono pads and are they dusty?

thanks for any input

hey! I just recently picked up a set of Centric rotors and Akebono Pro-Act Ceramic Pads for my IS250. So far, I've put about 400 miles on them and I love it! The pads give off virtually no dust. I have gloss black wheels and used to hate the dust from the OEM pads. After switching to the Akebono Ceramic pads, I still am able to see the gloss on the rims after 2 weeks of driving. I'd say go for it!

there are people who live and die for akebono, they truly are great pads. I personally ran nothing else when I had my mercedes.

yes for our front rotors there is left and right. that is correct. Iam currently useing centric rotors on stock pads and seem to be ok. on the rears i notice that the oem rear pads do not fit perfectly on othe centric rotors. you will have a ring of unused rotor due to this effect.

Its about that time to replace the front brakes. I bought Centric rotors and Akebono ProAct ceramic pads from Parts Geek.

1st question - My mechanic said he had Akebono on his car and they squeak like hell. However I read nothing but good reviews from IS owners so far. Should I ignore him and go ahead and get them installed?

2nd question - bought a pair of Centric high carbon rotors from Parts Geek. Usually there is a rotor specifically for the left and right. But they said this one can be used fo either the left or right. My mechanic said they should be marked in the inside of the rotors. However I didn't see it. Any comments?

The IS250 only has a single part number for the front and so they can be installed on either side. You can ignore your mechanic about the pads but YMMV with the pads. Make sure you bed the pads in correctly and do not brake hard for the duration of the break-in period.
