brake pads too big?
Hey guys,
So I went to do my brakes today (front pads and rear rotors and pads).
The fronts went without a hitch and the rear rotors went in just fine. But the pads I got seemed to be too thick to go in. Does this sound weird? I'm using all OEM parts and this is a 250 AWD.
1) I made sure to match the part number and had the new and old pads side by side. They have the same exact inscriptions, size, etc. (For all intents and purposes we checked the rotors too).
2) The caliper is NOT stuck. It pushed in just fine and I put my worn pads back in for now and the rear brakes work just fine.
3) I changed the rear pads 2 years ago and none of this happened.
Is it possible I received some oversized pads? I ordered them from Sewell and will contact and order again if needed.
Keep in mind we did grind the new pads down a bit but they ended up grinding my rotor (it smoked up after I took it to test around the block) and the new pads cracked under pressure. Everything else is fine (rotors, caliper, etc). Weirdly enough I think the rear pads smoked and left a white film everywhere. Looks kind of cool. But I'm sure I cooked my brake fluid and I'll be changing that out too.
Any ideas on the pads though?
Thanks!

This is most likely the problem. You have a the brake pad which is for a different year IS than the one you need and they switched the brake pad/caliper setup for them.
