Default Rear rotors bigger than the front?

This seems odd and i tried searching on the forums but couldnt find the answer (most people are talking about BBK here)

im trying to get the EBC Ultimax BlackDash USR slotted rotors
http://www.ebcbrakes.com/automotive/...d_rotors.shtml

the vehicle applications for 2GS seems to say that front is 11.7" diameter while rear is 12.1"

this seems weird to me as usually front is bigger than the rear in most cars
can someone confirm this?

thanks

it's right, outer diameter of the rear is slightly larger in diameter; but is not bigger in terms of mass or design.

from rockauto, the centric parts dimensions with a diagram as well:

Front rotor: 295.9mm diameter=11.649"
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1280057

rear rotor: 307mm diameter =12.086"

Are you stock horsepower and torkz?

Then just get OEM

If you're double the HP, upgrade pads/rotors.......triple the hp/tq upgrade calipers/rotors/pads.

Also, those Black EBC rotors, stay black for all of 5 hard brakes, or 20 miles of stop and go traffic.....

Probably to accommodate the drum assembly for the e-brake. Similar to OEM Nissan 300zx brakes, the rear is larger to fit the drum e-brake.
