Default Replacing front struts...

Well I have 190k on my 00 GS3 and I need to replace my front struts. When I hit a bump there is metal on metal noise. My question is it appear on the rear that there are rubber gaskets that go on top and bottom of the spring between the strut. I was thinking that this is what is worn up front causing the noise but after going on Sewell a few minutes ago, I only see rubber gaskets for the rear and not the front.

I guess it might be possible the struts are just blown from installing my nf210's last month??? I didn't have the problem before I installed them. I really wish I would of replaced the struts when I installed the springs. Just with it being the holidays, money was tight and it was killing me being in 4x4 mode!!!

I was wondering those who have replaced their own struts if they did anything to insulate the spring from the strut?

I have nf210 springs and KYB g2 struts, and kyb strut mounts to install. What other components do I need?

new struts & mounts. How long have you had that setup?

I'd probably get the rears as well, since they take the same beating, but will degrade slower. My es' fronts were 'okay' but rears were shot. And i hate 'repaying' for the same thing twice, i'd rather pony up an hour or two to get it over with.

I bought the car with 145k on it year and half ago and it is on the verge of hitting 190k. I am ordering the rear struts this week after I pay my credit cards off.
Sorry for being repetitive, but you didnt have any kind of insulator to go between the spring and strut mount? I just really don't want to take everything apart AGAIN for a third time any time soon!!! And if I needed anything else I wanted to go ahead and attach to the order I am about to place with Sewell for a case of tranny fluid and cabin filter.

I def regret being impatient and not waiting to order struts to go with the springs.

Even if your shocks aren't blown yet, they will soon. Go ahead and replace them. Stock shocks don't like to go lower, even when new. I installed KYBs along w/ my lowering springs. No problems whatsoever.

I already have the kyb struts and strut mounts so I will be replacing regardless this weekend.

My question is about a rubber insulator? Is there one that goes between the spring and strut mount to reduce noise? I just don't want to take everything apart to realize I don't have all the parts I need!!! Or have to do this for a third time.

I don't recall having an insulator in the rear. My springs do have insulators though.

Ok I figured it out it is part of the dust boot and the rear is just a gasket.
