I used two very big sockets, a long bolt and nut. The outer socket was big enough to press the thing in by the outer shell. Didn't take much effort. Very similarly to the way another member on here did it. I'll look for the thread...

Found the thread that I was referring too. Granted, this guy installed the wrong bushing but his instructions were perfect!!! I did exactly what he did. (NOTE: the installation process is correct, but the bushing he installed is not). Probably why the thread got closed.....

Thanks for the link! That's a pretty creative method for getting the old bushings out and the new ones in. May have to utilize this method if the Autozone tool proves problematic as someone noted above.

Just got my trac-link bushings from FIGS and my carrier bushings from Ireland (ebay). The carrier bushings took about 10 days to get here and look solid. I will be replacing these in the next couple of weeks.

One question that I'm not completely clear on. Can I press the new carrier bushings in by the inner sleeve, or should press them in by the outer sleeve? I don't want to damage them since I have no spare.

Thanks.

Outer sleeve for sure! No question about it.

You never want to transmit the installation loads through the bearing. So since the outer race is the interference fit, you want to press on the outer sleeve.

Press it in by the outer sleeve. Use a 36mm socket. It's a pretty easy job once you are in there. You can press the old bushing out anyway you please

no one has said that....it depends on what your "clunking" is from and if you have a "clunk" i doubt this is what you need.

Once I get home I will figure out what the clunk sounds like, the iPhone won't play the sound clip since it doesn't support flash. My clunk is only when I go over bumps, up a driveway , my clunk sounds just like a piece heavy metal rolling around in the bottom of the trunk.. I've heard this clunk for 50k miles and want it fixed.
