Default brakes / rotor question

Hey CL? when you guys replace your front rotors, do you also replace the 2 screws that hold the rotor to the hub???

i'm about to replace my whole front brake system
-DBA series 4000 rotors - best rotors
-hawk hps pads
-stoptech ss braided lines
-motul rb600 brake fluid

i'm wondering if these screws are really necessary? my dealer has none in stock and the old ones are not reusable.

thanks

I had to drill mine out (stripped), had same problem but noticed the older ones don't even have holes for screws.
Mine has been OK a year later. The wheel actualy holds the rotor on, not the little screws (probably aides in assembly line). That rotor is going nowhere until you take the caliper off.

I have used the little screws either. I have done 10K miles so far without any problems whatsoever.

screws are referring to those holding the rotors in. you dont need them since you will hold the rotors in when you bolt up the lug nuts. your vibration/steering seems more like a balance or alignment issue. when was the last time you got one? keep in my our cars are **** to 60mph slight vibration. i have that nad it goes alway when i hit 70mph. so drive fast!

If you search my threads you'll see what I replaced.

I got an alignment done in Feb. and it's good for a full year so I will be going back in a week or so. I also got my tires balanced at the shop I've been using for my wheels on my prev. cars without issues, the wheels were road force balanced on brand new tires and the rims are now oem.

I am probably making the vibration a bigger deal because I realize that poly bushings will cause vibrations as well, which I have upgraded to.

This is SAD....For the exception of starfyrels you all need to start walking and not get behind the wheel of any car.

P.S the two little screws (10mm) are for removing the rotor when it becomes seized to the hub due to heat. if you think the two screws are what hold the rotor, sell you cars ASAP..

if there is any other screws you guys are referring to, POST PICS ASAP

Just goes to show how many people that actually know what they're talking about on the forums.

****-adkt is correct. you should all refrain from any self service on your cars.

I didn't want to point fingers or make assumptions but I was going to go this route as well.

I've done my brakes/suspension removal and installation a number of times and not once have I seen a screw that held the rotors in place. Then again I am not a lexus mechanic so the more information I can gather and knowledge I can take in would be better for me.

Most japanese cars -- with the exception of a few (honda accord has a hub over rotor design) -- have a floating rotor design. So the only thing holding that rotor besides the wheels/lugs is the calipers themselves.

There wouldnt be any pictures to post - because theres nothing else holding the rotor in.

i hear ya, not really pointing fingers but just stating the SAD fact about what is being posted. Sometimes im amazed at the posts in these forums, i swear you would think they were posted by my 6yr old Niece. "Uncle Lali, what is the wheel for? Uncle Lali what is a radiator? Uncle Lali what wheels fit the car?"
