^, I use the same method for general life. It doesn't show if one corner is wearing faster than the other or if there is a hydraulic leak but I have my wheels enough to get a visual inspection. One reason why I tell people not to fill to the master if the system is free from leaks. Once pads are replaced and the pistons are pushed back into their bores the master will fill up with the fluid from the calipers.

Whoa, I never knew that you can actually base it from there... Y'know, back in Philippines all the cars that I've ever had, I've never had to replace the brake pads on any of them in the 12 years that I've driven there, and we usually change to a new car every 5-6 years, we can keep them longer but usually 5-6 years is when all the suspension problems comes out just because of our road conditions, and not only that, the most usual speed back there is just like 40km/h, which is like 25mi/h, and everywhere you go is stop and go traffic...LOL

Are they a direct bolt on or is there something else needed like the LS400 fronts where you need to use the LS bolts? I have a buddy who is setting up his Supra for drag racing and he is going with smaller brakes in the rear to use a 15" drag wheel. He said hed sell em to me. What do they go for? He has new pads and cross drilled/slotted rotors, what would you guys pay for em?

Supra TT rears are direct bolt on, use existing bolts.
Price range from 300 - 600 depending on what all is included and who you get them from.

I've got a set listed if your friend changes his mind.

Another question, will my wheels clear the LS400 front brake setup? They are 17x8" with +44 offset.

^, Tough to say.
Offset doesn't really determine caliper clearance, spoke design does. If I remember correctly, you need roughly 67mm from the back of the wheel spokes to the face of the LS400 rotor to clear the calipers.

The wheels are BBS RK-II's, pretty open spoke.

Looking at some of the images, I'd say they will clear but can't say 100%.

Damn. I guess I'll have to mount the wheels and measure with the stock brakes.

OR just get some 18s or 19s.

Check on some of the wheel websites that sell rims...

If the wheel can fit on the LS400 then they will clear the brakes

Ok.... so I'm trying to keep my car as low key as I can....

Anyone ever swap the dust shields with either a tt or ls400? according to toyo diy's pics it looks like I should use the mkiv tt dust sheilds. For 36 bucks I might as well shoot in the dark if I don't get feedback...

You can clear the LS brakes with stock wheels and spacers i believe. So i think you're fine.

You can use either dust shield. The problem is the amount of work the will be required to get them on the car. Each wheel hub will have to be removed in order to install the shields correctly. You also run the risk of damaging a bearing when you go to press them out and press them back in. The simple way would be to notch the shields and get them to slide around the hub but I don't think you'll want to cut up a set of nice shields.

I wouldn't look at dust shields as part of being low key as most will not see them behind the brake rotor and caliper.

The bearings should be about 40 bucks from toyota, not that 117k is a lot on them but I might just replace them. I took a look @ my brothers mkIII yesterday (he has a SC suspension under it)
