its best if you bought a rack from your local auto parts store.

I might have a bent housing, the rod was bent, the car was in a side hit, so its possible, but 450$ later and about 35hrs of my time I broke down and found a way to import a used RHD rack from Japan, cars been off the road for 8months just on the rack! (I read the TSRM, this page 100 times etc)

I'm pretty goddamn fast and changing rack seals now, I look forward to the day of trying a rebuild on a non-collision LHD Rack and see if I can do it right based on this great FAQ.

I do however recommend just buying a rebuilt rack instead of starting down this path, it might have been perfect each time and I had bent parts, but if I had the option of a rebuilt I would have taken it.
ouch. at least you tried. bent or rusted parts makes a rack not rebuild able.

Sorry to bring back an old thread but i rebuilt my rack and it's leaking out the little pin hole on the end of the steering shaft. Every seal seems fine I'm just getting fluid squirting out this tiny hole. Any idea how to fix that? I'm about to just weld it shut lol.

Edit #1: realized it's leaking out the driver side as well through the seal. I think i gotta just redo the 2 main seals, this sucks lol.
