Default Burnt Odor from Rear Brakes

1st concern......I bought a 2011 IS250 two months ago, it only has about 2,000 miles on it and occasionally I smell a unique rubbery/burnt odor coming from what appears to be the rear brakes. The discs appear clean and I see no visual defects; I am curious if this is normal or not as it seems to occur under normal braking circumstances.

I previously had a 2006 manual IS250 and never experienced this smell, even if I braked hard. Granted, I had a ton of other problems with that particular IS.

2nd concern......The entire braking system seems to have a different reaction time in the 2011. The 2006 IS stopped hard and fast with barely a tap on the brakes, whereas the 2011 has a slower stopping time (to the point my heart skipped a beat my first few hard stops; I didn't think the car was going to stop). I'm used to it now and have adjusted my driving habits, but it was a drastic change to me when I first purchased the car. There is much less dust on the 2011 than the 2006 and someone told me it was fine, that Lexus changed the brakes due to dust and that the stopping time greatly affects dust. They stated the slower the stop, the less dust you have. Is this normal/anyone else experiencing this?

Sorry to be so lenghty!!

Thanks!!
