its not hard but you need to remove the throttle body 4 12mm two bolts and two nuts then remove the wire for the motor and the tps and if you still have it hooked up the water line to heat the throttle body up i bypassed this since i live in california no need in our weather just robs horsepower. then remove the body and remove all the phillips head screws be carefull they will strip if not carefull in fact i had to slot one of the screws with a dremel to get it out. then remove the motor but why are you replaceing that. it might be the ecu that was the case with my buddies when every dealer and shop want to replace the whole throttle body foe 2,000 got him a used ecu for 250 then had it reflashed to his key. been good since....and you cant buy them for the gs400 but the gs 300 is the same.

so did his and a few others threw my throttle body on his same thing then i tested all the componet to the throttle body all good even bought the motor and swapped it out nope finally i took my ecu out and put it in his with my key internals and started with no issues so we ordered a used ecu got it programed and he as been good since. you need someone with another gs400 to test.
