I think a lot of the coilovers that are getting rebuilt every 4000 miles are miss used. While they are coilovers and should be able to go low alot of people run them lower than is suggested from their manufacturer.

Lots of people blow seals by using the damper adjustment to compensate for the lack of matching spring rate to the car. They buy something too soft and feel they want something stiffer so they crank up the ****. The adjustment is suppose to be for fine tuning, not to change the ride quality dramatically. If you need to adjust them to an extreme, then you've got the wrong spring rate.

My tC has been on its current set of coils for about 30k+, still running strong. I just kept the preload close to how it came from the manufacturer, set the dampening at about 10-20 clicks out of 32, and it's treated me well. just know that any extreme adjustments will obviously shorten lifespan, i.e. drooping/compressing the spring like mad by lowering/raising spring perches, spinning the dampener adjustment **** like your life depends on it, etc.
