Default My evaluation of Tanabe GF210 MKI4 lowering springs.

Whats up CL family...

Okay. I got a good deal on a set of Tanabe GF210 lowering springs for the MKI4 Supra. But before I picked then up, I searched CL for some more info on those particular springs. However, there wasn't much info. In fact, it seemed as if there was a sort of bias against that make/model. The majority of post, regarding lowering springs, are about Eibach, H&R, Tein etc.... Don't get me wrong, there are a few post about Tanabe, but nothing major.

So this will be my contribution to current and future CL members that are trying to decide on a set of Tanabe lowering springs.

Here are a few facts about Tanabe's GF210:

The "GF" stands for "Grip Feeling" and 210 is a reference to the type/process thats used to make the springs.

The Tanabe GF210 spring rates are 476lbs/in.F 235.2lbs/in. R

They lower the MKI4 TT 1.2 F and 1.0 R. That's before "settling"

Springs that are made for the MKI4 will lower our SC's +.5 in.

The Tanabe GF210 will lower a SC300/SC400 about 2in after settling.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Everything from this point on is strictly based on my own opinions..
[B][I]
Ride Height: I find the height to be very suitable for everyday driving. At first glance, the vehicle definitely has a more aggressive stance. The height is also practical. You will look good without all the issues that come with lowering your car. i.e. tire wear, scrubbing, relocation of wires, fender mods etc.....

Quality of Ride: The ride is very comparable to a MKI4 TT setup. Its feels very sporty. If I had to compare it to another vehicle, I would have to say it rides similar to a M3. (I've had 2 so I know). Your braking performance improves greatly. As well as your off the line and cornering. The car is not bouncy at all. It has a firm feeling not stiff.

Installation: Basic

Here are my ratings: (1-10 scale)

Ride Height: 7
Ride Quality: 8
Performance: 8
Value: 8
Price Range: $210-$250

Hope that has been helpful to those that are trying to decide. Here are a few pics of the finished product:

THIS IS HOW THE BACK SITS WITH 265/35/18 TIRES:

It sure does. Less pitch forward=Shorter braking and more control.

Cool review, there should be a thread just for springs from Supra's on our vehicles. I'll post my finding for the Intrax springs I just got for my 93 SC.

OP, there is no such thing as a "MKI4", it's an MKIV or MK4.

I like that the wire harnes. Isn't in danger of being chewed off by the front wheels. This is a way better deal...

You say Ride Quality is 8. Does this mean you can hear/feel all the imperfections (ie cracks, lane paint, etc) in the road? Better than stock or worse?
