^^ Good point. I'm pretty sure I don't have the correct shim/hardware in my TT calipers as they "clack" when the brakes are applied. I'd assume that the shims, etc, would reduce fluid travel by occupying space the caliper piston doesn't have to travel.

I posted a link earlier in the thread. Master cylinders from a 96'+ Supra TT is 11/16th bore, up to 95' Supra TT are the ones to get with the 1" bore.

Exactly, the 'clack' goes away when you install new OEM shims. They are about $50 just for the front at cost so people sometimes don't install them which is not smart because the caliper pistons cut into the back of the brake pads.

Install new shims and you'll notice a smoother feel.

If you've bled the calipers really good and you still have deadspace. Try bleeding the brake master. The proper procedure is really easy to do, but you need two people. I've posted the steps on this forum before and it's also in the Supra MKIV repair manual.

If you rebuild the brake calipers the new OEM rebuild kits are super cheap and come with the special liquid soap you need to lube the seals with.

Yep I know. Take a look at the 97+ Supra TT brake upgrade specifics. You'd really have to do some work to get true 97+ brake stopping power and feel.

**sigh**

.....OK, so here's further evidence of the confusion/misinformation surrounding this topic . . .

...And here's excerpts from that ^^^ thread link:

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!

Any of you 95' - 00' (2-bolt flange) guys should be able to use this master cylinder upgrade with little or no modifications as far as I'm aware. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Should work with 92' - 94' guys as long as you swap over the booster as well.

I plan on doing this down the road; I'll post up any information or mods required when I do.

And then now we have this:

But, in this table of info, it CLEARLY states that '96 and 97's are ALL 1" or greater in diameter !!

WTF?

Man this has me wondering now as well. I searched the major autoparts stores and found listings stating the 96'+ has the smaller diameter; I didn't think this was true, why would they decrease the size?

So that led me to ask the dealer, they confirmed that it was correct. Now this service manual states differently. I better start calling more dealers and find out what's going on.

I have read online that the 26.9mm bore existed, but located in Australia, wasn't sure if they carried over to the states.

I am quite honestly lost again in the search for a proper master cylinder, haha.

Here are some facts.

1. 95 N/A Supra has the 1" brake master

2. 97+ Supra has the 1 1/16th or 1.05" brake master cylinder - I got one of my Supra TT 1.05" masters from ScotturNot

3. After having a 1/16th or 1.05" brake master working the N/A Supra brake calipers on my SC300 for awhile now I can say for certain that the 1.05" master is a definite upgrade for N/A brakes

4. I have the stock 1995 N/A 1" brake master still on my Supra, but I upgraded to TT calipers at all four corners. The car stops decently as it sits...more than well enough for daily/spirited driving.
I will upgrade to the 1/16th brake master and report back with any difference that occurs from installing the larger brake master. I'd expect more initial bite, but we'll see.

These are two quotes from Elmhurst Toyota
1993 NA Supra 47201-14760 Brake Master
1994 TT Supra 31410-14310 CYLINDER MASTER

I just sent a message to the Supra parts guru Curt at Elmhurst Toyota. I'll let you know what he says.

Curt @Elmhurst confirmed the larger 97+ master cylinder.
47201-14880 CYLINDER BRAKE MASTER LIST 97-8

This is the Supra TT 97-98 upgraded brake master. It has 1.05" where earlier ones have a 1" on the housing.

Long as you have a 95+ 2 bolt brake booster this should be an upgrade according to the Toyota documentation.

You don't need the brake master to do this swap. If you have a 92-94 sc300 the 97+ brake master won't bolt up anyways.

Add-
Goodridge brakelines(comes with copper brake line washers)
TT brake pad fitting/shim kit

Yes, if your brake master has two bolts to secure it to the brake booster it will work.

The early 92-94 cars have 3 bolts so those owners would have to change out to a newer brake booster as well to use the 97+ master.

Quick Reply: TT Calipers, bled, dead space? Master cylinder upgrade? Anyone?
