Default Help with ball joint question?

Will I save considerably on labor if I change out ball joints when I replace shocks and coils? I plan to have mechanic do later this week and need to decide whether to do ball joints now or wait; mileage is 107K.

Thanks.

Maybe he'll give you a discount for doing everything at once, but you don't need to touch the balljoint for a shock/spring install. It's normally 1 hour of labor.

But you might as well do it now, since your car will be in anyway and with 107K miles, its a nice piece of mind to have.

Definitely. The savings might be as dramatic as you would think but you will save some money. I would ask him how much he would charge to do the ball joints first. Then ask how much it would cost to do it together.

If you are still riding around on the original ball joints, then yes, change them. I would also do tie rods and an alignment while your there.
