Default 70k+ miles on OEM brakes?

How long has everyone gone on the original brakes? I have 70,500 on my 03 Gs430 and still have the OEM pads both front and back. What is amazing is I drive at least 50%-60% city driving as well as lots of hills, so it's not like the miles are all highway. I keep checking my pads, last time I checked the front there was at least 2-3mm left. At this rate I could probably get 90k out of them I would think. Should I just replace them soon or keep rolling?

It would be safe to replace them I would think. I had an incident last summer where the front left caliper froze and wouldn't release. Still don't know what caused it, but I'm thinking low pads may have been an issue.

Just keep rollin on them till you need to replace em. I suggest replacing the rotors as well when you do the pads.

I replaced mine at 63K with 4 mm left. Didn't have to but was changing wheels. Manual says new is 11 mm and done is 1 mm! Try telling that to a garage interested in taking your $. Both old sets were indentical and the pads were as flat as glass. If yours are the same there is no need to to machine the disk surface and take the flat harded layer off. The disks are likely better than new. And any greedy mechanic should read the TSB's on NOT machining disk perfect disks.
