best/easiest way to remove a frozen caliper pin

Default best/easiest way to remove a frozen caliper pin

anyone have had to remove a frozen caliper pin? how did you do it? the lower pin on my front driver side caliper is not moving. i'm going to try to spray pb blaster into the boot and pin to see if i can loosen and replace it tomorrow.

just keep working it with pb blaster or similar products. I use a product called release-all which also seems to work reasonably well.

did you have to clean out the chamber that the pin goes into after you pulled the pin out? if so with what? i was thinking about using a brush wire cleaner maybe..

i recommend using Freeze off, a wrench and a big flat head screw driver. first spray the freeze off(this stuff works very well especially when removing exhaust bolt and o2 sensor). use your wrench and work it up and down alittle at a time and at the same time use your flat head try to pry it away from caliper.this process worked for me.

If it is really bad you could use a wire brush. Once things get free they are actually not too bad most of the time, unless the brakes have not been worked on in a really long time. I usually use lots of antisieze and some grease when I put things back together.

I've had my front calipers off and I don't remember seeing any "caliper pins". Are you referring to the pistons?
