Default Wear on stock shocks with lowered springs

HI!

I have a GS with just Eibach Springs and stock shocks. I was running on Teins previously but went back to stock shocks and just Eibachs for the smoother ride and I was just wondering what the wear and tear on stock shocks would be.

I mean, how would you know if your stock shocks are "worn out". And how long before I start noticing it?

to my knowledge, your shocks will "blow" and what will happen is, your ride will become extremely bouncy on bumpy roads.

A bad shock will let itself known if you see oil seeping around the shock housing. If it is bone dry, it's good.

What's the lifespan of a regular stock shock with stock springs anyway? does anybody know?

And if you modify with eibach springs? What's the lifespan then?

Thanks in advance

My '98 GS400 was traded at 48000miles and the shocks were not doing much. Lots of rebound. And they were bone dry. It's the rebound and reaction to bumps that matter. On my '01430, I just replaced the shocks at 20000 and they were some softer than new, but new didn't thrill me. Push them a little and they fell apart.
I can think of no reason different springs would matter to the life of the shock

How long the stock shocks will last all depends on your driving style. If you push on corners a lot, the stock shocks will wear out in about 3-4 months.

I wore out my stock shocks in about 3 months after just the H&R installed. The feeling is, on a highway speed (70-80mph), if you hit a little bump, the car floats around. It felt like you are alomost losing control of the steering.

I'd suggest you to get a better shocks ASAP. The stock shocks laying in my garage, I can press it by bare hands. That's a "worn" shock:eek:
