Compared to the price they are asking for at my dealership, that is a steal. My dealership wants 2x that much (******ing rip off)

cheap for dealer installed. INstalling it oustide of the dealer is 1/2 that.

But, I'd install it at the dealer to get it warrantied

Default Cool thanks for the info guys

My SA at the dealership said that this was the first time they had anyone ask to install L-tuned shocks and springs, she said that the standard code by Lexus headquarters was 3.0 which equaled 470 dollars. That includes alignment, and Steering ECU install. I told her that CL guys were getting the parts and having other dealerships install them for 400 bucks and she just said OK.
So I guess I will book the install next week. Ill let you guys know how the car feels. She did tell me they would not install aftermarket brake rotors and lines regardless of price.

Thanks for the heads up.

I do pity you for having to be a test lab rat on this install though. I can't imagine shocks and springs being rocket science to install though

I'll be getting the springs & shocks soon -- ordered through Hennessy in Atlanta, list price for the parts, 4 hrs @ $80 = $320 for installation, w/o alignment. I think the alignment runs $80-$100, so $400 sounds about right. My local dealer wanted $1200 just to install- I don't think they have ever done it before. The only lowered GS4 I've seen around here had Georgia plates.

Angry

Hohlraum, re screwing: amen. However, the dealership will at least smile and perform the screwing in a Christian manner (down here, that means missionary position with the lights off, for all you Yankees). But doing springs and shocks is really pretty simple, if you have a spring compressor, so I wouldn't worry about being a first install. The only "first" would be the use of L-Tuned, not the installation itself.

dipstick, I guess my dealership is populated with slower mechanics, since they are trying to tell me that it's 2 hrs/corner. Then again, we do things slower down south. It's all that heat and humidity........

My dealer installed, yesterday, Bilstein's and a strut tower brace, with a four wheel alignment, for just under $600. The Bilstein sport shocks, from eshock.com, were just over $450. I do believe it's money well spent. I am looking forward to the TRD sways from our Mr. Ganz. The shocks are a big improvement, and should last the life of the car.
Now, the dealer would maybe say, the the shocks were billed at about $400. But the add ons for the STB, shop supplies, and $100 for the alignment, etc. adds up to about $600.

Tony, since you decide to purchase the L-Tuned setup, you should let your dealer installed them. L-T setup is warrant by Lexus is dealer install them. $400 is a good price from dealership. Plus you will not be hassled by them if any thing goes wrong with the parts.. (I had an aweful exeprience with my previous setup (bilstein/eibach) from they dumb dealer.) Miss diagnosis on problem.. first poing finger at aftermarket parts..

Here is the price break down from my dealer.. the labor is horrible.

Dealership provides parts
--------------------------------
$ 641.00 suspension
$ 680.00 mufflers
$1321.00
% 10 Discount (actually probably 10% of total subtracted from labor)
$1189.00
% 7.5 Tax (assuming tax through the dealership)
---------------------------
$1278.00 Total Parts

Dealership labor
------------------------
$ 720.00 susp labor 8hrs @ $90/hr (my god!!!!)
$ 99.00 alignment
$ 135.00 exhaust labor 1.5hrs @ $90/hr
$ 954.00
% 10 Discount??
$ 859.00
$ Tax (can they charge sales tax for services?)
---------------------------
$ 859.00 Total Labor

---------------------------
$2137.00 Total Installed

I mentioned getting the parts elsewhere and he didn't have a problem with that at all. But I forgot to clarify with him if I could still get the 10% discount (for getting both susp and exhaust done at the same time.. ok whatever.. heh) if I didn't buy the parts though him. I have a feeling I can talk him into it, simply because they are still billing _WAY_ to many hours for this job.

If I get the parts through Steve Ganz (and still get the labor discount) I can save about 100 bucks otherwise they are close enough not for me to want to bother with the ordering myself.
