Newbie Help!!! Lowering Options Help!!!
I am now in a position to do a drop, but am wondering what my safest options are (cost, quality, performance). I know vaguely about the springs and coilovers, but more information would be greatly appreciated as to how they work.
Anybody that can offer legitimate advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you want springs, depending on the drop it will put more stress on your stock shocks. The suggested route with springs is buying aftermarket shocks as well. That combo can range from $500-$700. Coilovers are going to be $300 more and they are adjustable.
I was thinking of just getting springs for now but it doensn't make sense because there is no adjustability and its just a waste of money. Not to mention the stress it puts on stock shocks. Save a bit more and buy coilovers. Adjustable ride height, good for spirited runs, or tracking your car, also if your into playing with ride height and looks. Win, Win,Win.

Thanks Choiza! I am definitely thinking of going the coilover route, but any recommendations on brand. Was thinking Tein Super Streets, but open to other ideas.
Again, any help is appreciated.

Definitely buy coilovers! It's well worth the money. You can adjust dampening for stiffer or softer and adjust the height to whatever you like. I went the spring/shock route at first and was disappointed and wanted to go lower. Don't waste time and money like me. Get coilovers. You won't regret it. I suggest you get Stance coilovers. They are awesome.

Any particular reason for Stance over Tein? Also what does a pillowball upper mount do/effect? I know that Tein doesn't make one with a pillowball for IS but just wondering.

i hav H & R springs they ride fine but like they said wear out your struts mine lasted some years b4 it started to ride like ***** tho. the drop was perfect on 18's and 19's. I'm upgrading to coilovers rite now, if you on a budget springs or else spring for the coilovers

Your welcome ATX, anytime, get Stances. They have excellent feedback with users in the USA and I heard its a lot easier to send them in to Stance in Chicago for a rebuild. People have many experiences with horrible quality coils from Tein. There coilovers are no where near built in Japan. Your basically paying simply for the name. I'd rather get Megan coils before I even touch Teins. For the money you can have Stance Gr+'s I believe and they come with pillowmounts. What is your budget for coilovers by the way?

No more than $1300. I have money strecthed all over from exhaust to new wheels, but I believe I can definitely get a very good set for around that much. I have been considering the Gr+Plus coilovers from Stance. I have found them as cheap as around $1180.
