Default painting calipers

Do you need to use special temp paint when painting your calipers?

If so, any special brands?

I think most 'professional' caliper paints are epoxy based due to heat and environmental conditions. There's a product called G2-German Performance Engineering Brake Caliper Paint. It's a complete 'system' including paint, cleaner, brush, wood stirrer and mixing cup. It comes in various colors and can be accomplished while the caliper is still on the car since it's brushed on. It sells for about $40. Also check out eBay (search for 'caliper paint'). There is usually all types of paints and colors listed.

I thought red would look good but I went for silver to go with my silver car.

Default Need Caliper stickers

bit,

check with ted920, he sells caliper stickers that have the LEXUS for the fronts and the "L" for the rear...very nice addition if you are painting the calipers. I plan on doing mine in the very near future...same paint got it at http://www.eastwoodco.com they have alot of good car stuff..even powder coat stuff. I actually got silver for my rotor hubs and black for the calipers...with white stickers from Ted.

I used red lacquer from Home Depot, still holding up and glossy after 1 full year! I applied with a paint brush.

You can also go to any autopart store and buy high temp paint. That should work too.

Thumbs up

Hey Johnny Mo:

Looks good. Do you have a close up pictures of the calipers? I am debating on either black or red. How long did it take you to paint each calipers?

Default Close ups

I'll try to take some more pics from closer up this week.

Time wise...I put one side of the car up on jackstands, and it takes about 10-15 minutes per caliper, per coat. You need to wait at least 3 hours before putting the stickers on (which don't come with the kit) and then you can do the other side. The paint has an 8 hour working time so you could do both sides at the same time, I just didn't want to chance it. Check out the review I did on the paint in the lobby.
