Shift **** makes clicking noise when pressing brake pedal
So when the car is in park, you can't put it in reverse until you press the brake pedal right... Well today, my car started making an audible noise from the gear selector when I press the brakes while it's in park. The noise is just a clicking noise coming from the shifter area, like the release or something is being loud. Then when I let off the brake, you can hear the release thing click again to lock it. It might just be in my head, but I also think the shifter feels slightly loose while in park; it kinda has a little jiggle room ya know. Suggestions?

Nah man, this is weird. I'd have noticed this one before. It's a decent volume CLICK! and it aint lexus-like at all. It really sounds like it's coming directly from the shifter inside the car. I know it's the park release thing, but it's just never been this loud before. Gotta figure out how to fix it!!! I just had the car up on the jack today to "burp" it again and top off the coolant. Coincidence?

That's normal if you get a clicking noise whenever you hit the pedal. It gets louder as the car ages. If you want quiet again, You can possibly swap out the solenoid for a new one. Mine use to be dead silent when I first bought my car but it's getting louder as the months go by.

I used to have a 1990 integra that used to do the same thing , but during the winter months when it was real cold it seemed a bit louder , and sometimes it would take a while to shift out of park . I took the shifter housing apart and sprayed some lithium grease in there and it was good as new

You only need to replace it if you cant sift out of park.
