Default What kinda brakes should I get??

Well, it's that time. The rotors are gettin bad so I need to do new brakes. Since I have to do it I was looking into an aftermarket setup... but which one??

I know a few people have Supra brakes on the forum and everyone seems to be pretty satisfied with them!! How much did they cost?? Where did you get them?? Steve??

I really like the RMM cross drilled ones but don't know much about them. Does anyone have them or experience with them?

Since I HAVE to buy brakes, I'm thinking with a little extra dough, I can get a nice set of cross drilled rotors... If anyone has any thoughts on what I should look to/for I'd love to hear them.

My brake knowledge, isn't all that vast!!

BTW I'll be running 18 x 8.5" rims if that makes a difference...

RMM brakes are just plain Supra TT brakes with RMM stickers to cover up the Supra logo. I have RMM brake upgrade, they are as good as Supra brakes

You can the whole SupraTT brake system from Steve for about $850.

SupraTT brake upgrade is under $1000. However, you will need a huge clearance to clear those calipers. You mention that you going to put 18" wheel on.. its not so much of 18" that you have to concern.. its the offset on the rim that you have to worry about. You will need some low offset to clear the SupraTT. I have to find out the hardway..

YES. It all depends on tthe wheel design, but its very safe if the wheel offset is +35 - +38 mm. I have +44 for my C5 and I shaved the calipers to fit the rims

The caliper assembly shifts as the pads wear out. Is 35-38mm clearence enough from New-pads to Worn-out pads?

lexdriver18 - You didn't post your budget. A lot of good things have been said about the Supra brakes but if your budget, and wheels, run to the higher end, Brembos are not just for posing at a restaurant. And probably the biggest reason is the pads. I raced with Brembos in pre history and I can say that there pad technology is some of the best. I know people with Brembos that get alternative pads to save a few bucks and go back to the Brembo pads because they are that good. Not only stopping but very good wear as well. Of course you just moved up to around triple the Supra brakes but this one vendor that gets a premium because of their name but does supply a really quality product. And you will really never wonder if there are any better stopping alternatives available.
