Question GS430 Feathering tires

I have a 2002 GS430, it has 12k miles and I have noticed and told the dealer about the feathering tires on the car. The dealer says that this is normal for the Bridgestone tires on the 17 inch wheels. Is this really nornal or are they feeding me a line so they don't have to cover it because of the warranty? What could the problem be?
