Default OMFG my sway bar mount broke.

So I felt like my the rear of my GS was loose so I bought Daizen sway bar bushings and a Tom's 6link kit and plan on adding the TRD braces.

So I was installing poly bushings on the rear of my car and I was trying to take the sway bar off my car. Put my 12mm on the bolt, didnt put much pressure and *SNAP!!!!!* aaaaaaaaaaand there was a lot of cussing. At this point, I'm mad, and I tried the other bolt for some reason. Of course, it snaps.

Well at least I got my passenger side mounts off at this point. But it wiggled...and the other side of the mount was still bolted on. I crawled over to the other side and one of the bolt was completely broken off and the mount was foobarred!!!

No wonder my rear end felt so loose.

/rant.

How can I avoid this misery when I grow the bawls and find the free time to do this?

yep, both of them. And I'm guessing the same thing will happen to the driver side... Thankfully the bolt goes through the nut so hopefully I can extract the bolt with some vice grips.

That's sucks my friend. Hopefully it wont deter you away from modding. I remember one time one of my rear saw bar link was disconnected from the bar, so the rear end was really loose. Once I put back the bar, boy was it awesome

it does suck but I think the learning experience is worth it. No, this won't deter me away from modding

I have no idea what to do. I tried to twist the rest of the bolt out with vice grips but no luck... I may have to drill and tap.

will do. I think I'll most likely drill it out at this point.

the bolt was just not there. I think the head just gave away after the years of wear and tear and with only one bolt, the sway bar put so much force on it that it bent the mounts. its wet b/c I soaked that bolt with PB blaster...which did no good.

the broken bolts.

or you can get map gas and heat up the screw and then drill it. and then use a tap and die set..

but try the screw extractor first.

lol...haven't seen that one before. At least not on this car. If you replace it, make sure you change them out with high grade stainless bolts. There will be less chance of the stainless bolts rusting out and breaking.
