I had a hard time finding one without removing the cover and I decided to remove the engine cover.

The DSR and Carson STB should fit over the GS430 (2GS) with engine cover.

The only prob is finding one.

Did Carson/Carbing discontinue making their STB? If so, why did they stop?

I think the TEIN Strut bar (http://www.l-tunedparts.com/model/st...d=7&model_id=8) is tall enough to fit without having to remove the engine cover on the GS300. Not sure, but that is what I was told.
