IS-F Caliper On a GS400
Hey guys
Today I saw a guy that drives a 2nd Generation GS400 I am not sure what year, and he had those old 17inch 5 spokes chrome wheels and he had those IS-F calipers on I am not sure if he has the rotors....My question is that can you just switch the caliper and use the current rotors that we have on the 3GS? Because it seems like that guy have no problem driving it and he only has 17inch wheels and seems to fit. I think I might go ask him some question whenever I get a chance but they do look pretty good.....so please let me know what you guys thinks thanks in advance.

next time definitely ask and check it out, i am curious to know
but i highly doubt if that will ever work. first, the 2gs 17s are NOT high disk, they can't possibly clear the calipers at all. so unless he has a big adapter, which should be 20 or 25mm, it just won't work
second, fitting the is-f brakes on the gs400 will require brackets for sure, it is not bolt on. that can be doe of course. HOWEVER, stock gs400 front rotors are 11.5", something like that. stock is-f rotors are 14.2". that's almost 3 inches difference. i can't even remotely imagine how he can fit the caliper over the stock rotors without having a lot of pads leftover not touching anything.
not to mention rotors thickness, which is very critical between brakes (i am not 100% but i would tend to think is-f rotors are thicker)
i can't say for sure, but this is what i tend to think

here is what I think.
The guy with the GS painted his calipers with the G2 paint and put on the LEXUS sticker... I did that on my old IS300 and it looked like aftermarket brakes.

can't be true. most ls460 are on 18s like GSteg said. maybe they are talking about the touring brakes, but that's the same caliper with 14.1" rotors. maybe that's why they say they need 19s. the is-f brakes are 14.2" rotors, but the calipers are not as big as the ls460 ones
