Default My car shakes when braking....

Hi, I am new to the forum and I own a 02 black gs300. When I brake from about 60mph or faster my car tends to shake as I'm slowing down. I heard its probably my rotors need to be resurfaced. I still have a good amount left on my brake pads and don't want to waste extra money on new pads. Do I need to get new pads if I get my rotors resurfaced since the groove won't be the same? Thanks in advance!

and while you re-surface the rotors (if they are still within spec), i suggest new pads as well

make sure your rotors aren't warped...i had the same problem with my front rotors which were cross-drilled...when braking from 60mph there was a vibration in the steering wheel...very annoying...rotors were only 1yr old but they were warped...just got them replaced instead of resurfacing b/c apparently if you get them resurfaced, there might be a chance your problem will return...resurfacing would cost $20/rotor...i got 2x new ones for $120...i figure why not invest a bit more for peace of mind...my 0.02 cents. =)

What do you think caused it to warp...?

could be a number of things...

1) Poor quality control/build of the rotors...which was my guess b/c they shouldn't have warped within a short period of time

2) Hard braking then water exposure like rain or getting car wash right away.

If you're swappin' the rotors...don't settle for the cheap generic stuff you'll find on ebay unless its been tested and vouched by qualified peeps...go with brand name like Brembo or Powerslot or some JDM stuff.

After you re-surface the rotors once you might as well get new rotors. If the pads still have enough life left stick with them.
