Default Cut springs anyone?

Anyone cut their springs yet? How is the ride and how much did you cut? I want a more aggressive drop cause I have chosen a different set of wheels, long story to those that know

cut springs = bad idea.

i'd imagine that it'll screw up the ride quality, which is just the tip of the iceberg.

if you want a more aggressive drop, go w/ a set of coilovers or air, not chopped springs...

I have heard the positives and the negatives to cutting springs

Obviously the negative factor of ride quality etc..

But also have to remember in some cases some manuf. state to cut the springs etc..

So I say no get some coils

do it right and get a set of coilovers... it may be a pretty penny but it will be worth it at the end.

I wouldn't even consider cutting the stock springs, but you might be able to get away with cutting a single coil off the soft end of the Eibach Pro's. Each coil on the soft end will probably drop the car about 1/2" since those coils are all fully compressed when the car is resting on them. Only problem I can see happening there would be if the springs are too short at full droop. You might need helper springs then to hold everything in place.

My friend has a is250 and he had tanabe df210s for a GS on his car. the front was really higher compared to the rears so he cut his front. it sits lower but is a slightly higher. looks nice, but he hasn't said anything about the ride quality.

I cut my stock springs just to measure how low I wanted to set the suspenion before my coilovers arrived. The only prolbem is that the coil is tapered.
Once cut it will not sit flat; nor will it fit in the basket on the stock strut. I cut them and thought I could get away with it until the coils arrived. I ended up having to pick up a set of Tein's spring at a local turner shop until the coils showed up. So no cut spring on the 2IS. $200 lesson

I don't think the Eibachs are tapered like the stockers. They sit funny in the cradles too, but they seem to work fine.

Same with Tanabe. I think the fronts are not.

your not driving a honda. for you to cut springs. get a spring kit or coils. dont think its a overall good idea. would never even think about doing that on a 30+k car. if you decide to do it share with us your experience.
