Default sc300 highway swaying problem?

I just bought a 2000 lexus sc300 and it was swaying badly on the highway today, it is mildly windy but I feel it still shouldn't have been swaying so badly. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Would buying coil overs possibly fix the problem?

alignment, i use to have to drive with a 2 hand death grip on highways when i first got my car. Then I took it for an alignment and runs as good as new. It will still pull a little depending on the dips and such in the road but thats manageable

does the wheel pull or the car just drift on its own?

If it pulls, called tramlining, where the tires follow the integrated pattern in the road. If it drifts, its most likely a steering rack bushing issue, easily solved. Do a search on each of those.

It does both... I mean, the car sways like the wind is pushing it around, the steering wheel moves but only by centimeters at a time.

I looked at the steering rack bushings, they seemed fine. I might replace them anyway.

try getting an alignment first. A 3-year or lifetime warranty alignment plan at a tire shop would be definitely worth the money

you know.. I have the same problem. I thought it was a rear blown shock (cause that's what I think I have too) but I might have to get an alignment sometime.

i had the same problem. I got an alignment and it went away. 8 months later it started happening again.

I was told to change the bushings. It's like $30 for the front and back.
Some one also told me that it could be the sway bar.

if your car sways under wind conditions, I believe that means your shocks are out the door...

Time for an upgrade.....

steering rack bushings and swaybar bushings might help and both are cheap.

if that doesnt work you could get an alignment.

I'm having the same problem but an alignment did not fix the problem. I also noticed the wheel being way off center sometimes while going straight but dead on at other times. I have rack bushings on the way. I have a feeling that'll take care of it

check your tire type too
if they are super snow tires, they will have a lot of flex in the sidewall
although with stock suspension it really shouldn't be too bad
