Default Help? How do you replace the front/rear brake pads? (searched already)

Help?
I have a 99 GS300 and its time to I guess change the brakes at 49,000 miles....
I was thinking about getting some Axis', EBC's or Hawks....
I searched and the DIY is for the LS400 which has different brakes in the rear for sure(sliders IIRC) vs piston calipers like on the GS300?

All calipers are piston-type. But some calipers have sliders, and others are basically like the front.

For our rears, we have sliding pins to hold the pads in place. To replace the pads, you need to first remove the fitting guide pin, and then the 2 pins that actually holds the pads to the caliper. The pads should slide right now. Sorry I dont have any pictures. I never bothered taking pictures.

If the front still has life in it, then just leave them that way. Pad change are easy anyways. Use your best judgment though because I dont want you to run your pads down to the metal.

Most pads have those metal clips that squeals when you brakes. They basically rub onto the rotors. Can't have them squealing too long otherwise your rotors will be gone.

This should help at least for the front, see BananaGS DIY site
I have not found anything for the rear.

I wish it was that easy, or perhaps it is. I always usually have to end up unbolting the calipers and changing the pads. Getting the old pads out without removing the calipers is not the problem. Problem occurs when I'm trying to fit the new and thicker pads in. I normally have to use some tool (wrench, etc or whatever) to push the pistons back in.

All you have to do is use a c-clamp and compress the pistons in with the old pad in place. Slip out the old pad and you shouldn't have any problems.

I wouldn't recommend EBC. I had EBC Green on my calipers and it wasn't that great.

rears are pretty ez too. take out those clips that hold the pins in. then pull out the pins.
take off the caliper and compress the piston back in. install the caliper again. slide in the new pads. slide in the pins. slide in the clips
