Just got my MOOG lower ball joints today in the mail and these things seem pretty solid. They have "555 made in japan" stamped on them. Only paid 30 a piece. Ill be getting them changed Saturday, car has been making sounds fr about a week not, so hopefully this resolves the issue. Have already changed the upper control arms. Tie rod ends were still good, dealer said not to change them. The car is a 2002 with 77k miles. Id be lying if i said some of the pictures ive seen didnt persuade me into driving much more conservatively once i started hearing the noise ha. I thought the 01s+ had different/better ball joints, but i guess not.

Hey guys. I think I mite have the answer to the clunk. I have a silver 98 GS400. I've replaced every front end component that you guys mention. Upper, both lower control arms, sway bar links, rack bushings, lower ball joints, experimented with daizen bushings & still had the clunk. My clunk went away 2yrs ago when I replaced my rack & pinion. Then after replacing the rack, found out inner tie rods will cause clunk. Still to this day & 238k miles later. Still running strong & no more CLUNK!

I do service my GS300 2001 model, twice per year by a Lexus dealer.
Would it be reasonable that they check the ball joint on normal inspections?
It feels like paranoia to remind them about it.
Further, if there is zero, nothing, no noise from the steering, is it a good indication that everything is still in good conditions?

I'm in a similar situation as s5804. I've got a 2000 GS300. It has 180k miles on it. I don't hear any noises from the front end, the car tracks straight and the front end seems tight. Should I be worried? I bought the car when it had 124k, but I don't know what major work was performed before I bought it.

I had mine checked out when I bought the car and the mechanic said everything looked in good shape. Car has 135,000 miles on it so I want to change these parts anyway just to be safe. Does this list look correct? I read that people are changing the outer tie rods and LBJ's. Also, I read that some are swapping out bushings from the website I have posted below.

Tmengineering sell only to companies and shop now, not really open to public anymore. I do know that they have another shipment supposed to be coming in this week if it hasn't already.
And for the price of these ball joints you might as well replace them I paid $72 shipped for mine off of eBay. Outer tie rods are cheap too, too bad it's my Inners that need replacing -_-

I'm also having some noises in my front passenger side of my 99 gs300...have already jacked the car up and tested for play in the bearings tie rods ect... slight movement but not catastrophic sometimes I get a pop noise when backing out of the driveway but never turning I think I have several parts that are starting to wear so it's making diagnosing a little difficult...btw car has 130000 miles 20x9 front 20x10.5 rear I know this is my main struggle in stressing my suspension

I haven't had my 03 gs430 over two months and today I started hearing that squeaking/creaking noise every time I make a turn,smh..I told my buddy about it and he instantly said it was the ball joints,so I came to the forum and was just shocked at the amount of people who had/has the same problem..I'm not a DIY guy but I definitely have friends that love working on cars and may have to show them this forum
