ride height HIGHER after bilstein HD install
does anyone know if it takes new shocks time to settle. I just installed bilstein hd's in my gs300 today and the rear wheel gap is about 4-5 inches; whereas it used to be about 2".
also got the daizen sways installed as well. car handles much much better but my car looks like a jeep.
let me know. thnx.

when i had the HD's installed back when i had oem springs, i didn't notice a difference in height, except maybe in the front (which i later found out that bilstein packed the wrong spring seats with the struts and later replaced them for me). what settings are the spring seat rings at? if you don't know, those are the rings on the body of the struts that hold the spring seats. there are 2 settings for them. usually the struts are shipped with the higher seating, which is for normal setting. that is why i don't know why yours is raised so high, unless you got the wrong part number or maybe your old struts were COMPLETELY blown.

sorry, but i dont know what would make it sit higher other than:
wrong springs were installed
the springs are not seated in the shocks properly
the reassembly of the shocks: dust cover and thing underneath it are incorrect in order
the shocks are completely incorrect for your car
i hope this helps.

thnx for the replies thus far.
also, i forgot to mention that i had the daizen sway bars installed at the same time. can sways affect the hight? i do not believe so. another thing is that i checked the height again of the rear on both sides today and the driver side is about an inch higher than the passenger rear side!
how do i know if the spring seats are wrong? what order are the shocks supposed to be reassembled in? finally, i am pretty sure the shocks are correct.
what is going on here???

you can look to see where the spring seats on the shocks by:
jack the car up.
look at the spring to see where it sit on the bottom of the shocks.
the shocks have a knotch on it where the end of the spring should sit.
if it is not sitting in properly, the spring may be sitting side ways and may cause the car to sit uneven.
